Economic Policies

The main objective of the Institute of Economic Policies (IEP) is the development of scientific knowledge related to the analysis of the structure and functioning of markets, the limitation of regulatory capture, the increasing competition and meritocracy, and the growth in labor productivity of both employees and companies.

Based on this advanced scientific knowledge and the postgraduate degree training, the IEP seeks to provide the tools for the evaluation and design of public policies, to create space for discussion and to spread the art of economic discipline’s state to the academic community and general society.

The institute is attached to the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and currently has 7 members who are all professors at FEB. Its principal is Dr. Miguel Vargas Román.

The mission of the IEP is to contribute to the economic and social development through advanced academic research, postgraduate training, and environmental connections. To get this, associations with the best investigation centers will be searched. The three main pillars that support the institute’s task are: The Creation of Knowledge, The Quality of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Teaching, And Environmental Connections.
